As research continues to provide evidence for the potential uses of medical cannabis, more and more people are turning to it as a possible treatment option. But how can you find out if medical cannabis is the right potential treatment option for you?

At CannaWay Clinic, we have successfully assessed over ten thousand patients for cannabis treatment plans. However, medical cannabis is not available to just anyone, and eligibility depends on a number of factors.

Are you eligible for medical cannabis?

You may be eligible for an appointment at CannaWay Clinic, which is covered by your provincial health plan (ex. OHIP). Health Canada recommends medical cannabis only be prescribed to those over the age of 25; if you are under the age of 25, please obtain a referral from your physician prior to booking an appointment.

At CannaWay Clinic, cannabis is not always the recommended treatment option for patients. Sometimes the physician may recommend an alternative treatment option before medical cannabis is deemed appropriate.

Medical cannabis, just like any other medication, may have interactions with your current medications; although rare, it’s important to keep the team at CannaWay Clinic informed on any medication you are currently taking. Many patients are able to achieve symptom relief by incorporating medical cannabis into their healthcare plan, and in turn, may be able to reduce other medications. Always follow the guidance of your health care practitioner when tapering or reducing medications.

At CannaWay Clinic patients have achieved symptomatic relief with the following conditions:

Who can prescribe medical cannabis?

Only healthcare practitioners such as physicians and nurse practitioners can prescribe medical cannabis; at CannaWay Clinic, all of our physicians and nurse practitioners have completed a cannabinoid education program, so they are equipped with the latest information and guidance in the application of medical cannabis.

How to prepare for your virtual appointment:

Have your health card and an updated list of current medications available to share with your CannaWay Clinic physician.

If you are a veteran and wish to receive medical cannabis coverage through VAC, you should have your K number ready.

If you are on any social assistance programs (ODSP, CPP, disability), please share this with your Patient Educator so that they can help you receive compassionate pricing for your medical cannabis.

If you would like to learn more about medical cannabis and speak with one of our physicians, give us a call at 1-833-842-8383 or book an appointment online now.
